Benny Morris, PhD
Professor of History, Ben-Gurion University

Benny Morris was born in 1948 in Kibbutz Ein Hahoresh and grew up in Jerusalem and New York. After his service in the IDF Nahal from 1967 to 1969, Morris earned his Bachelors of Arts in European History and Philosophy at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He went of to earn his doctorate at Cambridge University in Modern European History. Returning to Israel, he joined The Jerusalem Post, working as a reporter and editor for 12 years. In 1997 he joined the faculty of Ben-Gurion University as an associate professor, where he continues to work. He has published nine books on Middle Eastern and European history, starting with The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem, 1947-1949 (1988); The Roots of Appeasement (1991); 1948, A History of the First Arab-Israeli War (2008); and One State, Two States (2009). He is been published in The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, Newsweek, The Guardian, Corriere della Sera, Middle Eastern Studies and The Middle East Journal.
